Fishing Boat Trawler on a Sea of Hands
This sculptural piece is constructed from individually modeled hands and boat. Once first fired (bisque) it has been painstakingly finished in a range of colourful earthenware glazes that have been overlaid to ensure a richness and depth of colour. The fishing trawler in this piece is based on the boats in the local harbor which are a very distinctive shape.
The boat is pulling a fishing net which is made of woven string and is the only non ceramic piece of the sculpture.
The whole piece measures 24 sm long and is 26 cm high (up to the top of the boat chimney). It has been made to sit on a mantle piece or shelf.
